R - Reaction vs Response!!

The 'R' post (with reference to A-to-Z challenge) is coming late this time. I would have written a Poem or a Haiku and that's what suits my style; but today I am sharing this post based on a real conversation with one of the greatest friends of mine. Let's call him a special friend; I don't want to term him Aaptard though he sounded like one. I came across this new term recently as an outcome of Indian General Election 2014. Its been discussed a lot during social media interactions but alas; I experienced the real meaning of this term after having a conversation with my special Friend.

Without making any changes; I am sharing the actual snapshot of our conversation over an FB status, posted by my special friend. He shared one of the newspaper links talking about Praveen Togadia's latest hate speech; which Praveen Togadia responded with a legal notice to all the newspapers. I curiously tried searching this specific hate speech but failed; and told my friend to go through the legal notice.

Below are original snapshots from our conversation -

Outcome: Surprisingly my special friend deleted my original comments only to leave me with strange feelings. He didn't stop there and astonished me by removing his original post and un-friending me from his friend-list. Alas...did I just lose a precious friendship because of reaction from my friend!! What do you think would have been the situation if he had responded (not reacted) to my thoughts rather than being prejudice and implying his perception!!!

PS: I don't support Togadia...He has been controversial all the time; neither I support anyone who dares to shake the foundation of harmony of Indian Society by making hate speeches.

PPS: I cannot hate or un-friend someone for a difference in ideology.

H-Sutra of Corporate World - 3

The corporate world demands us to park our minds along the grey cross section of streets of honesty and corruption.

It's we who decide if we want to take a turn and choose Black or White.

And I was overtaken by someONE!!!!!!!

I was driving my car on the highway. It seemed that I was the fastest among the bunch of normal people.  Suddenly I heard a "zzzoooooommmmmm.....", and somebody overtook me. I kept wondering why it happened. Had I become too slow, or the person who overtook me was indeed faster enough? Or I was sitting in a comfort zone, enjoying the monopoly of staying ahead all the times....staying ahead it terms of reaching heights? Or I was the only one among others who wanted to put a little extra efforts to stay ahead? Was I competing with the normal people who never attempted to go faster, since they too had been enjoying the comfort zone?

Doesn't it happen to a lot of companies, a lot of actors, a lot of professionals? I realized that I was not only one in this league, in fact, I was just a new addition. I was at my best, everyone approaching me, appreciating me and I guess I assumed that there will be no one who would overtake me. I was wrong. Anyone who think on these lines is wrong. Someone has stated long ago - "We should never underestimate our enemy", I want to modify it by saying that - "We should never underestimate anyone".

I can't accept but I was reflecting the feelings of Jealousy, Anger, Ignorance....all negative. I know I was bitten by J bug and there was only one medicine which can kill such feeling, and you know what it is. Anyways, a company that has faced setbacks before and bounced back to become the world's most valuable brand--worth $57.4 billion, is none but Apple....I can also do that. I can also bounce back. Just a matter of little more innovation, just a matter of little more efforts, just a matter of little more persistence....just a matter of coming out of comfort zone. And I am again ahead of the time......blessed with the positive feelings again.

Did it happen to you as well!!
What you did to overcome this!!

So called wise people....deciding about your life...

This post is written with utmost honesty to thank and say "NO THANKS" all those who thought that they were wise enough to guide me towards the journey called life.

My life as a kid/teen had always been full of ups and downs which made me turn to those 'considered to be wise' people (relatives) around me. It started with the basic question while entering class 9th, Papa was not educated enough to tell me which stream I should opt for....and he suggested me to take advice from a highly educated relative (from my family standard) and guess what...that wise person suggested me to opt for the most common stream of two decades '1990-2010' and you got it right, its "SCIENCE". You got it, the most important decision of my life was taken by someone else (Are you finding the same pattern in your case). It was difficult for me to differentiate between right way or wrong way...every suggestion seems to be right.

I wanted to help my papa to grow our business..I somehow had a dream that, someday I will be the owner of the biggest Bakery Shop in my city. The dream also includes that everyone in my city will eat minimum once in a week at my Bakery Shop. I managed to take admission into a college (11th) where I needed to attend the college only during exams, to ensure I can work towards that dream of mine. Still my father was able to convince me to back out from my decision with the help of my 'Tauji' (eldest Uncle). He knew I won't refuse Tauji at any cost.

I did every possible things for three years to convert my dream into reality and people around me showed faith in my way of doing things...my family supported me; but someone (among those wise people) tipped my father that I would be heading nowhere if I continue like this. And my father, was honest/simple/innocent enough to assume that they were right, result - I opted for a government job. After four years (when I was matured enough), I decided to quit this boring job and my papa again went to the same set of wise people to ask for suggestion. He made me to speak so many wise people (relatives) who tried their best to convince me with their way; however this time I was determined. They could not make me see the world with their set of glasses.

I left that job and joined the private industry. Within four years I realized that this track proved to be 100 times faster than the previous so called wise people track. During this journey I also came across a genuine person, whom I can trust. He had become my mentor, my motivator. Thanks to 'Sonu Bhai' for being there for last four years and pushing me hard towards a more successful life. He made me realize my potential.

Learnt few lessons during this journey:

"Suno sabki, Karo apne man ki"
"Dream is just a word until you decide to experience it"
"Its important to have a mentor, but its also very difficult to find a genuine mentor"
"There are no mistakes, there are learnings and improvement opportunities"

For Men.....

Hey People,

Hope you had a nice weekend and great festive season......During my reading session on Saturday and Sunday, I actually read a lot. I started with reading 'The Great' Muhammad Ali's autobiography, followed by watching few real knock videos of the great boxer. Read how and why he was the most controversial sport person during his era and also got to know that he has been awarded the "Sportsperson of the Century" Award in 1999.

Then I started reading about the latest killing of Muammar Muhammad Abu Minyar al-Gaddafi. Which took me to reading about the life of some of world's most hated Dictators and I went back to read the history of Saddam, Hitler, Robert Mugabe, Omar Al-Bashir, Fidel Castro etc. I was not believing as if I am the same person who used to hate this subject (History) like anything, is today going into reading so much about history with a keen interest. I guess someone has rightly mentioned that no subject is boring, its just the way we would like to know that subject.

Now, why I blogged today is that I just came across something during this extensive reading and found it quite interesting, at least for my age group, and that's the reason I titled this article as "For Men.....". This is not my creation and I am just posting it for the entertainment of people. Here we go with the piece by an unknown person:

26-27 is not a nice age for a man.... your ex-gfs are getting married , Your career has just started, Elders treat you as unproven theorems, College guys feel that you are too old to have in their group... You seem to enjoy both cartoon and news. You can no longer eat whatever you wish without putting on weight. You look like an ape if you don’t shave daily. You are not invited for weekend cricket matches .

Every Aunt you meet asks “Shaadi kab kar rahe ho beta!!” while uncle asks “Career ka kya socha hai beta…”.. When the reality is that you are just riding the wave and going with the flow… You have all the confidence in the world but little achievements to show, You already have the first hand experience of the life , You know that whatever you have been taught about the world in schools has been sheer waste of time.

You can be denied a job even after passing the test and you could be given a job if you know someone placed high enough… Politics till now was a dirty word but now you feel it everywhere. You know now love is not that blind and that friendship has its terms and conditions. .You know there is nothing for granted and free lunches are not free… Your overconfidence is now making way for a humble conscience....You now know it is not exactly what we thought it would be...

Keen to know your view on this short piece of 'someone' :)

Have a good one.
With Love,
Hemant

I kept walking....

  The sun was departing from the sky,
I saw birds flying back to their homes;

I kept walking…. I kept walking….

People were leaving their offices,
with a hope to see their family soon,
I spotted on the west the full dull moon,
Clouds were turning into dark blue,
I felt the wind turning a bit chilly and cool.

I kept walking…. I kept walking….

Now the sun got completely, buried into the sky,
And I saw the dark foam like clouds at high;
The artificial lights filled the city in a row,
People were waiting outside the theater for the evening show;

I kept walking…. I kept walking….

Everyone was tooting horns on the traffic signal,
An auto just passed by me, playing Jagjit Singh 'Gajal';
Every corner of the road was filled with machines and people,
The wind grew stronger and moved my Jacket's Lapel;

I kept walking…. I kept walking….

The road to home was really full of excitements,
There were too many things happening around me,
but I was so silent;
The home was still two and half kilometer away
when I took the right turn,
I assured myself not to worry as life is full of twists and turns.

I kept walking....I kept walking....

This poem was written in November 2009. I thought of giving this poem a new life, as this piece left ignored for a long time....

Thanks for reading me... and as usual.....your thoughts/critics/feedback are my paycheques :)

The feeling of getting awarded...

Hey Pallies,

I am dedicating this post to one of the fellow bloggers who awarded my blog on her blog. Though I always prefer rewards, this award made me jump on my bed when I saw it.

Whenever I received an award in my office, It hardly mattered for me because awards are also planned these days. They award you tell them that you are going to resign in few days. You can try this technique. The award are effectively used to reduce the attrition rate. If you are not satisfied with your rating and planning to escalate the issue. I can bet the you are the best employee of the same month.

I always used to ask my boss to arrange a reward ceremony. Those Rs.500/- sodexo coupans look better than a trophee which does not make sense when everything is planned. Trophee is illusion, money is real.

Well, my award is listed under THIS link.

Thank you Beeni for awarding this blog.

Every award comes with some promice, so I promise that soon I will be back with below things posted on my blog:

1. 7 Random things about myself.

2. Answer of following questions:

a) Name my favorite song
b) Name my favorite dessert
c) What is pissing me off
d) My favorite pet
e) My best feature is
f) Everyday attitude
g) What is perfection
h) Guilty pleasure

3. Award 15 blogs.
With loads of love,

Hemant

When people reach the hights of cheapness....

This post is about the behavior of a special personality, I came across while my stay in Noida. You can learn how to use the facility of "Complementary breakfast" from this special personality....enjoy reading.....

Recently, I had a chance to stay in a hotel called Hotel Orange Pie" in Noida. I could term it as one of the best two star hotels in Noida city. That morning I observed this incident while having breakfast.

The hotel serves complimentary breakfast, and I saw one person sitting in hotel restaurant across the same table where I was having breakfast. The person was having Aloo Paratha, he applied 3 tea spoon butter on it. On the right side of the table I saw a full glass orange juice, a bowl of Fruit Jelly, and a bowl full of corn flex. On the left side of the plate, he kept a large cup of milk which was half filled (he had already consumed half of it while eating his first paratha). There were also 3 breads kept in a small plate with a minimum of 30 Gm butter on each slide.

While having Paratha, he complained about how bad the service is. He also complained about him being late because of such a slow service by hotel. He used the ideal time (when he was waiting for another paratha) in applying tonnes of butter on the bread toast and having it along with a little amount of jam. Now you must be knowing what the meaning of this 'a little' is for this special personality. Have you ever seen someone having fruit juice along with hot milk..I was also as astonished as you are after seeing this guy. On the top of that, that bread toast was also dipped into hot milk before tasting the tongue of this person.

After finishing his first glass of Orange Juice, he ordered another one. Here we go with the conversation:

Foody: Waiter!!!!!!
Waiter: Yes Sir!!!! How can I help you!!!!!
Foody: Can you please get me a full glass of orange juice?
Waiter: Sir....I just wanted to inform that complimentary breakfast consists only one glass of juice. Shall I bring another one!!!!
I was waiting for this moment and here he found himself in this embarrassing moment.
Foody:  Wait for some time....let me finish my breakfast first.

I saw him thinking something for few minutes....as if he is going to take  one of the most important decisions of his life. And the D moment came:
Foody (to waiter): Can you call the manager?
Manager: Yes sir!! How was the breakfast!
Foody: I am going to shift to another hotel today. You guys can't an extra glass of juice and expecting a customer to pay Rs.3000/- for a day?

Manager tried his best to be as polite as possible, and handled the issue very diplomatically. He might have given this answer after understanding the mental condition of the guy he was dealing with.

Manager: Well, I would like to inform you that we serve only one glass of juice as a part of complementary breakfast and it's not the waiter's mistake. They have been instructed to inform the same to guests; however I will arrange an extra glass of juice for you without charging you any penny. Is that okay with you!!

Foody: Yes.....thank you. You guys are superb (he had this killing smile as if he has won a battle of his life)

Note: I was watching this entire episode while sitting across the table and sipping a cup of milk as slow as possible in order to watch the climax.

I always say this line: "The laughing recipe is available in plenty around you....you just need to observe and experience the same in your day-2-day life"

Thank you for reading me.....your comments are my paycheques :)

Ma'am!!!! you got the wrong hand here.....

It was a perfect Sunday dated July 3, 2011. It's been over a month I did not get chance to spend a Sunday at home. My mom wanted me to stay @ home for the whole day and my Brother wanted me to go for a movie with him. I decided to surrender and preferred staying @ home for the whole day.

At the same time I also booked two tickets for Transformer 3 from bookmyshow.com. Every-time I use these things, I think our genre to be fortunate enough to have access to such an advance technology. The day went by with 100miles/hour speed without realization. I went to market with mom to buy vegetables. Also paid a visit to D-Mart in Kalyani Nagar to purchase Grocery items for home. Forgot to mention....that I had also been given a responsibility to clean one of our rooms and I finished cleaning before 12:00 PM.

The best thing is when we went to Fun & Shop Multiplex, Fatima Nagar in night. The showtime was 10:15 PM and we decided to kill our time by enjoying the greenery  inside the Multiplex. Now THE moment came...when a couple was walking right in front of me with hands in hands. I was walking alone as my brother had not yet reached the multiplex. Suddenly my devil mind started imagining some pictures. I saw girl's boyfriend letting his hands off and walking towards something (May be he wanted to attend one call..i don't remember). I overtook the girl and was dancing in my own music. A girl came from behind and started walking holding my hands in her hands. We might have walked couple of steps and than I said, "Ma'am!!!! you got the wrong hand here....." I purposely walked a few steps to reach a group of people and than uttered these words.

Everyone around started laughing and this girl kept apologizing, which added some more flavor to her existing embarrassment. I looked around with a killing smile and headed my way towards Theater # 3. Transporter # 3 :)

And......it took me 37 days to find my new muse...

And suddenly he started finding it difficult to write something when he realized that his writing is always inspired by someone and hardly by himself. It took him 37 days to find a new muse in himself and compose something. Things were looking quite easy in present; however future seems to be difficult. His positive attitude was standing on one leg and could fall anytime when he realized that both of his legs have been in his control and its only him who was not using both of the legs.

After realization of both the legs being in his control he started breathing deeply. There was a sudden confidence in the life which can be termed as "Self Confidence". And this motivated him to go ahead and achieve his professional goal even if personal goals are not achieved.

His personal life was not responding much and now has become a muse or inspiration to start writing again. One break up after another was the way his life was going......and the realization of the same made him stronger and increased his "self-awareness". His articles used to make people laugh and now his articles have become more of spiritual or humane. People might not find this piece of writing interesting enough to read; however he was not bothered but maintains his writing styles.

Though he was not a professional writer; however he always kept his mind aware of interest of people before composing something but today the writer inside him started flowing naturally. and here he ended up writing so many lines in 14 minutes which may turn up into a good poem very soon.

Thanks for reading......if you might have read the complete write up :)

Trying to wake up the writer :)

Last two months were too busy to write something. I was slogging my ass like anything in the office. The trip to Bangalore was great. It was successful on both personal and professional front. At the end of this trip everyone got certified which was the actual objective of the trip. And I also made a few good friends so next time I am sure I would better pass my free time with some friend rather than watching a channel called "GOD" (You must be wondering why)

Well one of my colleague is a fan and follower of GOD who accompanied me in Bangalore and I had no choice except watching this channel forcefully. This certainly does not prove that I am an Atheist and also does not indicate that I am a believer. Well I think one life would not be enough to tell who I am so I am moving from this controversial topic to something different.

One thing is definitely true about me that I love exploring not only new places but also people (don't take the meaning of exploring otherwise huh). So August month was about exploring new people and new places.

One thing I realized after making good friends during this break from my blog; that "Can we be friends!!!" typically does not work like any Bollywood movies. It just happens naturally. If I press the rewind button on the music player of my life, I don't recall if I have used this sentence or any other typical Bollywood sentence ever. May be my readers also could do the same thing and see if they have done that ever.

One more realization that opposite natures simply attracts you just like north and south pole of a magnate. But again we need to be very careful that we don't cross the thin line between friendship and attraction which mostly happens incase of all the yougster (Well I too did it quite a few number of times).

Well; it was nice to write after a long time. I am going to try my best to continue this habbit as long as possible. Enjoy yourself with the festive season of Ganpati Bappa....

Monday I saw the new sun rising from the east

So next day I was in the office for the interview in time. I was looking forward to the meeting with Senior Managers. Numerolgy was in my mind but the first question was how I would make the first impression lasting enough to sell myself. The senior manager was a Punjabi gentleman, his face was shining and he seems to be having a lot of experience. The interaction was really different then the previous two rounds.

We talked about Training, Operations, Goals and ambitions etc. I actually recited a poem in the interview. I got a positive feedback from Mr. Senior Manager and next day I finally got to know that I did crack the interview. At the same time I cracked one more interview in the other company that increased my confidence more.

Right now I am sitting in one of my favourite internet cafe. I just finished Two States and it seems to be one more awesome work by Mr. Bhagat. I also wrote a poem on one of the incident from this book and offcourse I am going to post it right away:

Monday I saw the new sun rising from the east;
I am still feeling the words said by that priest.
The whole burden of sorrows was off my head;
1st time after a long time I spring up with a smile from my bed.

It was a dream which was the cause of my happiness;
The old man came to me and asked for the reason of my wretchedness.
The old man was wearing white clothes with a balding head;
I felt the energy when he put his hand on my head.

He advised me to understand the true meaning of ‘forgiveness’;
How easy it is to take off the load from the head and feel burden less.
I exactly did the same and hugged my father in my dream;
I realized it was so easy to forgive than cursing.
